Our client, a leading global financial services infrastructure provider, is seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join their EMEA legal team based in London.About Our ClientOur client is the premier post-trade market infrastructure organisation for the global financial services industry. They automate, centralise, and standardise the processing of financial transactions, mitigating risk and enhancing performance for thousands of broker/dealers, custodian banks, and asset managers.The RoleReporting to the Head of Legal – EMEA, this position offers the opportunity to help launch a new commercial product within the broader business, effectively a start-up opportunity under the umbrella of a secure parent business.The successful candidate will act as the primary legal contact for the new business unit, crafting solutions that align with regulatory requirements while mitigating operational risks.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide autonomous legal support with commercial awareness across English and EU lawManage complex legal matters across regulated and unregulated business lines in EMEAPartner effectively with cross-functional teams including Compliance, Business, Product, Technology, Operations, and SalesCollaborate with Legal teams across Americas and APAC regions to ensure consistent global approachReview, draft, and negotiate diverse commercial agreements balancing business objectives with regulatory complianceConduct regulatory horizon scanning to develop proactive compliance strategiesSupport new business initiatives, product development, and service offerings from a legal perspectiveAssist with incident responses and investigations as requiredMaintain governance practices and monitor control effectivenessHandle corporate legal matters and ad-hoc projects, often under tight deadlinesEssential Requirements5-12 years PQE as a qualified UK lawyer (solicitor or barrister with current practicing certificate)Financial Services Law Experience - private practice background with focus on financial services in heavily regulated environmentsIn-house Experience preferred within a regulated financial entityStrong understanding of UK market regulatory requirements and experience with regulatory agenciesSolid grasp of legal risk management principlesInterest in general contract, corporate, and commercial lawBachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferredDesirable AttributesInterest in technological developments within the financial sectorProactive approach with strong commercial awarenessExcellent relationship-building skillsAbility to work autonomously while leveraging team supportStrong ethical standards and attention to detailThis is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading organisation that plays a crucial role in global financial market infrastructure, offering the chance to work on cutting-edge financial services matters in a dynamic, international environment.To apply or discuss this opportunity in confidence, please do so via LinkedIn or mail barry.whyte@
