This is a pivotable role, a key member of the project team to improve and optimise Project Controls, Processes and Practices, and provide visibility of issues before they become uncontrollable.You will be expected to operate at an internal tactical level across the Firm and work closely with Project Directors and Project Leads.In this key and varied role, you can expect to:The Senior Project Controller’s primary focus will be to help Engineers separate the Technical Delivery and Project Controls to de-risk project delivery, improve efficiency and ensure that all projects deliver the best possible outcome to Hoare Lea and our clients every time.The Senior Project Controller will use a range of existing tools and techniques to achieve this and lead the way in the creation of new templates and software where appropriate.The Senior Project Controller must be an excellent communicator and be capable of managing staff directly and indirectly across different disciplines and levels of seniority, including Director level.The Senior Project Controller will be ultimately responsible for ensuring that:Project Leaders have required support for the planning, executing and controlling of Major or Complex ProjectsWorkshops are competently delivered for complex or otherwise selected projects where a Project Leader requires additional Project Support. These workshops may comprise:a. Project / Stage Kick-offb. Project deliveryc. Project Recoveryd. Lessons LearnedSupport the Project Leader in monitoring the project financial performance.Project Programmes are created where required, which respond to varying needs of stakeholders and third-party delivery partners.Project Design Reviews are carried out in accordance with the Project Design Review Strategy, on every project.Appropriate Change Management mechanisms are in place on every project. Always promote and support its correct use.The Project Leadership Team work collaboratively with Project Leaders, Project Directors and Senior Management.Document Control protocols are established and adhered to on projects under their control, including maintaining accurate, version-controlled records of all project documentation.Managing the flow of information between external project teams (e.g., clients, contractors, consultants) and internal Hoare Lea teams, ensuring timely, secure, and traceable communication across all channels.Overseeing the implementation of document management systems and workflows that align with IMS (Integrated Management System) requirements.Supporting internal IMS compliance, ensuring all projects within the office or business unit adhere strictly to IMS procedures and policies. This includes:a. Monitoring document management practices during the lifecycle of each project.b. Ensuring correct categorisation, filing, and accessibility of all records.c. Carrying out and supporting internal IMS audits in collaboration with relevant quality and compliance leads.At Office / Business Unit / Sector Level:The Senior Project Controller will be ultimately responsible for ensuring that:Project “Healthcheck” Reports are carried out on all projects in their control and that trends and results are summarised to Director Level management. Flag key areas of concern and provide suggestions for resolution and improvement.Project Leaders and Project Teams and access to Project Controls skills and techniques. Support any training and development needs as required.Provide guidance and support to other Project Controllers.The Project Leadership Team are leading the way on innovation and continuous improvement in terms of Project Delivery, always promoting and encouraging creative and innovative thinking in others.The “Project Excellence” initiatives are successfully rolled out across the North Region. The Senor Project Controller should also make suggestions for improvements and areas for development and ensure that the initiatives relate to all Projects.All internal IMS audits are carried out by the team, on time and in accordance with IMS requirements. Review results and report & make any recommendations to senior management.At Firm Level:Promote the growth of the Project Leadership Team. Help to embed and support other Project Controllers in other regions, ensuring that all Project Controls Managers can achieve a consistent set of aims and objectives.Help to imbed a Project Delivery strategy across the Firm so far as it relates to Project Controls; ensure that “Project Excellence” principles are embedded across the whole Firm.Always encourage the development of tools and strategies to increase standardisation across the firm.Identify strengths and areas for improvement.About youWe are seeking a people person who is comfortable dealing with all levels throughout the organisation.Must have extensive experience in information management and project coordination in the construction industry.Skilled in implementing and managing electronic document management systems (EDMS) such as Aconex and SharePoint, driving process improvements and assisting in the successful delivery of high-quality project outcomes under tight deadlines.Adept at liaising with, co-ordinating and steering multiple internal stakeholders and disciplines to achieve combined and co-ordinated project delivery.Awareness of NEC 4 contracts and management of Change Events advantageous.Control of contract changes and dissemination of information to multiple team members essential.
