Job Description Carrier ManagerLocation: YorkSalary: 35,000 - 45,000 DOEHours: Full time, 37.5 hours Monday to FridayElevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a highly successful and growing business to recruit a Carrier Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a commercially focused organisation in a pivotal role, taking ownership of all carrier and shipping activity to drive performance, cost efficiency, and service excellence.This role works cross-functionally with operations, sales, and account management, combining commercial analysis, supplier management, and operational oversight.The RoleAs Carrier Manager, you will take full commercial ownership of the organisations carrier relationships, ensuring service levels are maintained, costs are controlled, and margins are optimised. You will play a key role in negotiating with carrier partners, managing contracts, and implementing robust processes to support operational excellence and customer satisfaction.Key ResponsibilitiesTake commercial ownership of all carrier activity, including performance monitoring and supplier managementReconcile inbound and outbound carrier invoices, ensuring accuracy of pricing, volumes, and marginsEnsure all carriage costs are billed accurately and on time to customersProduce monthly reporting on carriage revenue, costs, and margins, including variance analysisForecast shipment volumes and monitor performance against agreed carrier targetsLead negotiations with carriers to minimise price increases and improve commercial termsConduct regular performance and service reviews with carrier partners against agreed SLAsCommunicate carrier pricing changes internally and externally, ensuring accurate billingSupport sales teams with pricing for new business opportunitiesIdentify and onboard new carrier partners to improve service, cost, or capabilityWork closely with operations to implement and improve shipping processes and controlsInvestigate shipment issues, returns, or damages and implement preventative measuresEnsure compliance with import and export requirements for overseas shipmentsSupport onboarding of new customers, ensuring shipping processes are fit for purposeManage risks relating to carrier performance, pricing, or operational disruptionKey Skills & Experience RequiredProven experience managing carrier, courier, or logistics partners Strong commercial, financial, and analytical skillsExperience reconciling invoices, managing costs, and reporting on performanceExcellent negotiation and supplier management skillsStrong operational understanding of shipping and logistics processesHigh attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilityAbility to build effective relationships across finance, operations, and commercial teamsProactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership
