Shift Maintenance Engineer (Electrically Biased)Location: ParhamSalary: £48,000£51,000Shifts: Rotating shiftsContract: Full-time, PermanentA well-established global manufacturing organisation is looking for a multiskilled Shift Maintenance Engineer, electrically biased, to support production operations on rotating shifts. The role is focused on ensuring high equipment reliability, rapid response to breakdowns, and effective engineering support to keep 24/7 production running smoothly.This position involves hands-on maintenance, problem-solving, and working closely with production teams to deliver continuous improvements and operational efficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and ensure availability of production and ancillary equipment throughout the shift.Serve as the first point of contact for operators when technical or process issues arise.Support shift leaders by addressing daily engineering concerns quickly and effectively.Carry out planned preventative maintenance and contribute to the ongoing development of the sites CMMS.Perform unplanned/reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and maintain optimum production output.Conduct root-cause fault-finding, resolving underlying issues rather than short-term fixes.Assist with installation, commissioning, and optimisation of new equipment and processes.Identify and promote equipment and process improvements.Collaborate effectively with colleagues across engineering, production, design, logistics, and supply chain.Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and site standards.Provide guidance, mentoring, and basic training to operators and apprentices.Skills, Experience & QualificationsCompleted apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in electrical, mechanical, or maintenance engineering.Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment is essential.18th Edition qualified (desirable); candidates without this must be competent with single-phase systems.Experience working with three-phase systems, control panels, motors, and motor starters desirable.Experience with variable speed drives is an advantage.Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems.Able to dismantle, repair, and reassemble machinery confidently.Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, able to resolve complex engineering issues independently.Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working both independently and within a team.Knowledge of polymer processing technology is petent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and experience with CMMS systems (e.g., Pirana).Confident decision-maker with the judgement to know when to seek additional support.Benefits25 days plus bank holidaysOpportunity to buy flex daysEmployees are automatically enrolled into the scheme on joining and the company pays in 6% of gross salaryPaid for membership to AXA HealthOpportunity for 5 days of paid leave a year to spend on voluntary work for the community -Opportunity to donate twice the amount of your gift, making the total contribution to a charity organization three times your original donationMinimum of 4 events per year to support you in your wellbeing.
