Job Description Senior Electrical Design EngineerLocation: Wolverhampton (Hybrid Working)Salary: Up to 60,000 + PackageHours: 37 per week (flexible bands and core hours)Senior Electrical Design EngineerJoin a leading UK engineering organisation near Wolverhampton with over 60 years of experience delivering high-integrity, safety-critical systems for regulated-sector projects. The company designs and manufactures complex EC&I and mechanical systems in-house, supporting full lifecycle delivery from concept to commissioning across advanced engineering programmes. Projects include large-scale machinery, process systems, automation solutions and safety-critical instrumentation for major Energy, Research and Defence Infrastructure facilities.About the Senior Electrical Design Engineer RoleThe Senior Electrical Design Engineer will lead electrical design work packages and manage a team of engineers delivering complex engineering solutions from concept through to handover. The role covers full lifecycle design, integration, testing and commissioning for high-integrity systems in regulated environments.Key Responsibilities of Senior Electrical Design EngineerInterpret design requirements and translate them into fit-for-purpose engineering solutionsDeliver design work packages within agreed time, cost and quality constraintsManage day-to-day activities of the electrical design teamSupervise, verify and produce design deliverables including schematics, GA drawings, cable schedules and calculationsProduce control panel designs including GAs, detailed drawings, schematics, interlock diagrams, PLC/HMI hardware, motor starters, drives, safety circuits, instrumentation and power distributionCoordinate with mechanical, EC&I and software disciplinesLiaise with manufacturing, testing and commissioning teams to support build and deliveryEnsure compliance with UK legislation, British/European standards and industry best practiceParticipate in HAZOPs, design reviews and technical risk assessmentsManage design change control, technical queries and contract variationsProduce technical documentation including FDS, software documentation, technical files, O&M manuals, spares lists and test documentationCandidate ProfileHNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)Extensive electrical design engineering experienceDemonstrable experience leading or managing design teamsProficient in AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical and MS OfficeKnowledge of British/European standards; IEC 61508 advantageousEligible for UK Security Clearance (SC)Commitment to ongoing professional development (Chartership support provided)Salary and BenefitsUp to 60,000 starting salaryHybrid and flexible workingPension: 5% employer / 5% employee + 3 salary Death in Service25 days annual leave + bank holidays + option to buy/sell up to 5 daysAbility to accrue up to 5 additional days for authorised extra hoursProfessional membership fees paidCommutable FromWolverhampton, Birmingham, Telford, Dudley, Walsall, Cannock, Stafford and surrounding areas.Why JoinYou will join a business committed to engineering excellence and continual investment in its people.
