We are looking for a well motivated compassionate GP to be an autonomous professional and integral member of our growing, friendly and supportive practice team that looks after our 6,400 registered patient population.Main duties of the job This is a varied position covering 6-7 clinical sessions per week to include some on-call duties, home visits and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will work alongside our established practice team to deliver a high-quality Primary care service. Lines of responsibility for clinical and general matters to the partners via a named GP Partner, and for administrative matters to the Practice Manager and Deputy Practice Manager.About us Newtown Surgery is a practice committed to provide high quality timely care to our registered population with a practice team that offers support and encouragement to help each other thrive.Our team consists of GP Partner, Salaried GP, ANP, Paediatric ANP, Practice Nurse, HCA and administrative staff, as well as a Practice Manager and Deputy Practice Manager.Job responsibilities To provide care for registered patients including diagnosis, examination and appropriate treatment, investigation and onward referral.To participate in both acute, chronic and anticipatory clinical care, preventative care, screening, risk management and patient education. To record all data on the computer system in line with good clinical record keeping and with SNOMED codes relevant to QOF.To undertake and manage the administrative workload generated by the clinical workload and other administration necessary for the running of the practice.Responsible for providing appropriate, evidence-based clinical care to patients seen, and arranging appropriate treatment, investigation and referralManaging and following up investigations orderedLooking after a case mix of acute and chronic patients and providing continuity of carePaying attention to screening, prevention and chronic care issues when patients attend for acute problemsAll aspects of work with reference to agreed practice, local and national guidelinesRecording data on the Practice IT system to a standard compatible with good clinical record keeping and following the practice guidanceRecord relevant and timely data to aid the practice to meet its targetsPrescribing should be according to accepted clinical practice and guidance for acute and repeat prescriptions. It should follow practice policies and procedures e.g. use of formulary and management of repeat prescribingDealing with telephone contact and messages from patients one has treated and arranging appropriate follow upHome visits when indicatedMinor surgery would be desirable.Any special interests will be encouraged and developedTo manage the normal administrative work‑load generated by patient contact such as referral letters, medical certificates, administrative forms, queries from other health professionals, third party reports etc.Practice administration which is done on a shared basis such as repeat prescriptions, action and coding of significant diagnosis from letters receivedClaim all fees appropriately e.g. private medical certificates (fees remain the property of the practice)Participate in the education and training of team members as appropriateQualificationsFull GMC registrationMember of a Medical Defence OrganisationJCPTGP certificate / PMETB certificationExperienceExperience of working in a Primary Care settingExperience of working with EMIS Web clinical systemKnowledge and skillsTo work in accordance with accepted professional practiceSome flexibility of working hoursAbility to prioritise workload and work effectively and efficientlyAbility to work as a team member in keeping with the general ethos of the practice and its partnersTo act in a professional manner at all timesTo adhere to practice policies, protocols and guidelinesTo be a member of the practice and primary care team and understand the importance of maintaining good communication and relationshipsAutonomy; although accountable to the partners as your employers you must ultimately be responsible for your own clinical practice and must ensure that limitations are acknowledged and any problems reported to the named partner as soon as possibleAwareness of timekeeping whilst accepting the unanticipated demands that occur in primary careTo be prepared to be flexible at times and sensitive to the needs of the patients and the practiceDisclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.#J-18808-Ljbffr
