Managing Editor – Lead the Voice of a Top Retail Industry PublicationHybrid working (2 days in office- West Sussex & London)We’re hiring an exceptional Managing Editor to take the reins of a powerhouse industry title; steering both its editorial vision and day-to-day operations across digital and print.This is a rare opportunity to shape content that informs and influences key decision-makers, while driving forward the publication’s evolution into a fully modern, digital-first brand.What You’ll Be Driving:Strategic Editorial Direction:Help define the future of the brand, ensuring every feature, report, and editorial moment reflects the publication’s authority and speaks directly to the needs of its professional audience across multiple channels.Digital-First Transformation:Lead the shift to a digital-first mindset. You’ll optimise storytelling for digital impact, integrate the latest tools and platforms, and help unlock new growth and revenue opportunities through smart content strategy.Content Leadership:Oversee the entire content pipeline; planning, assigning, editing, and publishing. You'll take direct ownership of flagship features including Focus Ons, supplier trend analysis, and commentary pieces.Editorial Excellence:Maintain razor-sharp quality control, signing off key sections and championing high journalistic standards, while empowering the team to take creative ownership and deliver their best work.Columnist and Contributor Growth:Nurture and grow a stable of standout columnists; curating perspectives that are insightful, bold, and consistently ahead of the curve.Team Management:Inspire and lead a talented editorial crew, including editors across Special Projects, FMCG, Drinks, and Fresh Foods. You'll be a motivating force behind editorial development, performance, and cohesion.Deputise as Editor:Step into the Editor role as needed, confidently representing the brand both internally and externally.Required Experience:A proven track record leading editorial teams across print and digitalA deep understanding of digital content strategy and audience engagementPrecision editorial skills with an eye for originality, relevance, and rigourNatural leadership and mentorship abilitiesThe agility to thrive in a fast-moving environment without compromising qualityThis is more than an editorial role, it’s a strategic leadership position at the heart of a respected, evolving brand.
