Job Description SENIOR BUILDING SURVEYORSRVOCompetitive, aligned to experienceHybrid South EnglandROLE OVERVIEWWe are looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to join SRVO as part of a growing and highly capable surveying team, delivering core building surveying, project and compliance services across the South Home Counties.This role is suited to an MRICS-qualified Surveyor (or equivalent level of experience) who enjoys variety, takes pride in technical quality, and is confident managing client instructions across both residential and commercial assets.This is a senior role for a Surveyor who wants autonomy, technically credible work and project exposure, without being stuck in a volume-driven consultancy model.Youll have direct access to the Building Surveying Directors, the freedom to run your own workload, and the backing to deliver work properly. Projects typically range from 50k to 3m+, and the role includes a strong mix of defects, planned maintenance, project delivery and compliance-led work.Youll also work across a varied portfolio including residential, commercial, industrial and education environments, giving you genuine breadth and technical challenge rather than repetitive site types.ROLE EXPECTATIONSThis is a senior-level role requiring sound judgement, strong organisation and the ability to manage multiple instructions without compromising quality.Youll be expected to work in a hybrid way, balancing home working, site inspections and office collaboration, while also travelling to sites as required across the South.The work is varied and technically broad, covering defects, planned maintenance, project delivery, compliance and advisory services. You will also be expected to support business development activity and contribute to improving services as SRVO continues to grow.Youll be trusted to deliver quality work properly, with the backing of Directors who care about standards and long-term client relationships.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKEYoull be successful in this role if:You deliver consistently high-quality technical work across a range of surveying instructionsClients trust your advice and see you as a reliable point of contactProjects are well managed, commercially sound and professionally deliveredYou take ownership of your workload, pipeline and deadlinesYou contribute positively to team development, mentoring and training HOW YOULL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIMEMost weeks, youll be:Providing advice on building defects across a wide range of property types and agesPreparing Planned Preventative Maintenance reports, lifecycle costs and maintenance budgetsActing as Project Manager / Contract Administrator on projects typically ranging from 50k to 3m+Reviewing pre-construction information and overseeing RAMS review processesSupporting Building Safety Act 2022 related work, including building height surveys and structural appraisalsUndertaking reinstatement cost assessments and pre-acquisition surveysPreparing schedules of dilapidations, negotiating claims and advising landlords and tenantsMonitoring development and project works on behalf of landlords, funders and other partiesActing as Principal Designer where appropriate, including PCI packs, CPP review and H&S file preparationSupporting mentoring, APC development, CPD and wider company initiativesYoull work in a hybrid way, with flexibility and trust built in, alongside regular site visits across the South.
