Quality Manager Location: Andover (5 days onsite) Contract: Permanent In conjunction with the Senior Technical Manager and other departmental managers to ensure the BRCgs AA+ status of the site and the implementation and sustainability of the Pilgrim's Quality Pillar. Responsibilities: Core Responsibilities To maintain the site BRCGS AA+ status To deploy the technical department resource to maximum effect. To ensure that all our products meet or exceed specification and to communicate effectively when they do not! To energise and motivate the quality team to deliver the above. To be a key member of the site management team delivering a profitable and successful business performance. To ensure that our site is always clean and presentable. To ensure the smooth implementation of new lines and products. Hygiene To work with the hygiene team to deliver an audit-ready-every-day production environment. Internal Auditing To be an active internal auditor. Non-conformances, Complaints And Out-of-spec Results To champion the 5 why process within the Technical team driving down to root cause. To ensure good communication and visibility of non-conformances, complaints and out-of-spec results Working with all departments to ensure that all non-conformances, complaints and out-of-spec results are fully and effectively closed out. Quality Pillar To play an active part in achieving the Pilgrim's Quality pillar. Suppliers To ensure that all deliveries to site (British, NZ, other foods and packaging) are checked and recorded in the appropriate manner. To work with our supply base - are we getting what we should be getting? HACCP To be an active HACCP member maintaining the highest food safety standards. Production To support the production process ensuring information is both available and accurate. To be hands-on on the production floor actively looking for issues that could affect our customers. To continuously look for efficiencies and better ways of doing things. QUOR To champion the development of the QUOR paperless system. Quality & food safety The job holder is responsible for actively encouraging all staff to immediately report any quality or food safety issues, assign reward for doing so (using the STAR Award process) and must be seen to take visible action and give feedback to the reportee on actions taken to address the raised issue. The job holder will be required to support the site food safety and quality management systems through active engagement in the internal and external audit programmes. The site will be maintained as audit ready at all times. General To actively lead in ensuring that the site is audit ready every day. To ensure that our all products meet or exceed specification and to communicate effectively when they do not! In conjunction with the senior technical manager to maintain and develop the site quality systems (HACCP and BRCgs). In conjunction with the Senior Technical Manager to ensure that at all times the site meets or exceeds BRCgs standards and all other third party accreditation standards. To manage the quality team and day hygiene team to achieve the above goals as cost efficiently as possible. To ensure that the quality team and day hygiene team each receive a 1-2-1 every month. To identify and action training requirements within the quality team. To be an active representation of the Technical Department within the Opex tier meeting structure. Up-to-date - to actively look for and raise awareness of issues in the food industry that could impact upon our business Essential Criteria: HACCP Level 3 minimum Level 3 Food Safety Have a thirst for nurturing and developing people Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills Food Hygiene Qualification Desirable Criteria: Degree-level education or equivalent desirable Excel to Intermediate level (advanced is desirable) Word and PowerPoint (intermediate is desirable) TPBN1_UKTJ
