Job Description Estimator Location: Truro, Cornwall Hours: 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday Salary: 40,000 to 50,000 Dependent on Experience Holiday: 20 Days plus 8 Bank Holidays Sector: Construction, GroundworksOur client is a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor serving developers throughout Devon. They work in partnership with more than ten of the UK's largest housebuilders, delivering high-quality infrastructure and groundworks that support the delivery of much-needed new homes. By managing the early stages of construction, they help streamline the development process for their clients. This is achieved through a dedicated in-house workforce of skilled professionals who ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.Due to continued growth, the business is now seeking an Estimator to join its pre-construction team in Cornwall. In this role, you will be responsible for bringing together project scope, designs, and cost estimates to meet stakeholder expectations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills will be essential, as you will work closely with internal teams and suppliers to produce accurate, competitive quotations while ensuring procurement requirements are met.Position DutiesUtilize drawings to produce detailed estimates for all aspects of ground worksQuantity take-offs using software to measure materials and labour requiredResearch, negotiate and compile quotations, which are competitive while maintaining high standards across projectsIdentify risks and suggest management plansCollaborate with the design team to ensure buildability and early identification of issues that may occur, and negate themConfidently communicate and collaborate with all interfaces, such as external contractors, project managers, Construction managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project successContinued learning to keep on top of market trends, material updates, legislative updates and legal obligationsPosition Requirements Proven experience in Estimation in a construction or groundworks environment is essentialThe ability to interpret complex drawings and understand the specifications is required, with drawing experience an additional benefitAbility to prepare competitive cost estimates and quotationsClear, concise and accurate communication skills, over telephone, email, in person and in written communicationsConfidence in reporting to all stakeholders throughout the processHigh level attention to detail and a 'right first time' attitude.This role is Primarily office based, with very occasional site travel, so the ability to reliably commute to the office is essential.Position Remuneration Up to 50,000 Salary dependent on experienceRegular office hours 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday20 Days Annual Leave plus 8 Days Bank HolidaysCompany Pension SchemeFriendly office atmosphere where every team member is driving successThis is an opportunity to join Devon's premier Civil engineering firm, in a position that is ready for someone to hit the ground running.
