Job Title: ChefLocation:Pencaitland, Tranent (EH34), EH34 5DJReports To: Home ManagerJob Summary:We are looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join our care home team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, well-balanced, and appetising meals for our residents, many of whom have specific dietary needs. You will play a key role in promoting residents health and well-being through food, ensuring mealtimes are a positive and enjoyable experience.Key Responsibilities:Plan, prepare, and cook meals according to residents dietary requirements, preferences, and nutritional needsWork closely with the care team to ensure individual dietary plans are followed, including soft diets, diabetic meals, and allergy-aware menusMaintain high standards of hygiene and food safety in accordance with health and safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, COSHH)Monitor stock levels, place food orders, and manage kitchen budgets responsiblyEnsure the kitchen is clean, tidy, and compliant with food safety standards at all timesSupport themed days and special occasions with appropriate menu planningSupervise and support kitchen assistants and ensure smooth running of meal servicesEngage with residents for feedback and meal preferences to continuously improve food servicesRequirements:Previous experience working as a Chef, ideally within a care home or healthcare environmentKnowledge of nutritional needs for older adults and experience catering for special dietary requirementsFood Hygiene Level 2 or 3 Certificate (required)Strong understanding of food safety and cleanliness standardsAbility to work in a team and under pressureGood communication and organisational skillsPassionate about delivering high-quality meals that promote dignity and wellbeingJBRP1_UKTJ
