Mechanical Fitter Special Purpose Machinery Assembly A busy and established engineering firm is currently looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to support the assembly of bespoke machinery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building a variety of mechanical systems from engineering drawings, ensuring high-quality standards are consistently met. Key Responsibilities: Assemble mechanical components and systems based on technical drawings and specifications Perform general sub-assembly and full machine build tasks, from small parts to large sections Install bearings, taper lock pulleys, gears, and associated drive components Route and fit pneumatic and hydraulic pipework Use a wide range of hand and power tools safely and effectively Carry out inspections to verify quality and accuracy of completed assemblies Work in compliance with health and safety guidelines, maintaining a tidy work area Collaborate with team members to improve workflows and resolve build-related issues Requirements: Time-served mechanical fitter or engineer with relevant trade background Recognised mechanical engineering qualification Strong understanding of mechanical principles and component assembly Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems Confident using both hand and power tools; familiarity with machine tools is a bonus Previous fabrication experience is advantageous Strong communication and teamwork skills Able to lead by example and uphold high professional standards Comfortable working independently or as part of a fast-paced production team If you're an experienced fitter looking to join a dynamic environment and contribute to the production of high-quality, custom-built machinery, this role could be the perfect fit.
