This is a key role responsible for overseeing financial operations, driving month-end close efficiency and ensuring accurate reporting using Sage accounting software.The successful candidate will bring a strong background in financial management, excellent attention to detail and the ability to lead and develop a small team within a flexible and growing business environment.Key ResponsibilitiesManage daily finance operations (AP, AR, general ledger) Prepare financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations Lead month-end close, including journal entries and reconciliations Use Sage for financial processing and reporting; resolve issues Train team members on Sage tools and best practices Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking Coordinate with auditors and ensure financial compliance Prepare financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Lead month-end close, including journal entries and reconciliations Use Sage for financial processing and reporting; resolve issues Train team members on Sage tools and best practices Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking Coordinate with auditors and ensure financial complianceEnsure VAT, P11D, FCA, and other statutory returns are completed accurately and on time.Maintain accurate base accounting records for all companies.Oversight of statutory accounts, liaising with external auditors, and preparing pre- and post-year-end documentation.Lead and develop the Finance function across all businesses, ensuring smooth operation of accounts payable, credit control, and payroll.Mentor and develop the Assistant Accountant/ Supervise a team of 4 staffAct as the key point of contact for all Group finance matters.Prepare budgets, forecasts, and timely monthly financial reports for the Board.Provide weekly cash flow reporting and management.Attend monthly Board meetings to support decision-making.Analyse business trends and provide commercial insight across all companies.This role would suit a qualified or part-qualified accountant (QBE also considered) with proven experience in a senior financial role including team management, You will be highly organised, detail-focused, and commercially astute, with strong leadership skills and the ability to partner with both senior management and operational teams.Keywords: Company Accountant/Assistant Accountant/Management Accountant/Financial Controller/S44/Chesterfield/Sheffield/Mansfield/WorksopTPBN1_UKTJ
