Consultant RadiologistJob Plan Commitment:10 PAWe are looking for General Radiologists, but should you have an interest in either Interventional Radiology, Breast, Chest & Cardiac or Paediatrics we would be very interested in hearing from you.The posts are full‑time; however, we would consider part‑time applicants.The Radiology department is well equipped, with two 128‑slice Siemens CT scanners, two 1.5T Siemens MRI scanners, digital screening rooms and updated ultrasound machines. We also have a recently installed SPECT‑CT and a new dual‑source Cardiac CT scanner, plus CT and MRI vans/static scanners for additional workload at our Community Diagnostic Centre in West Swindon.The Breast Centre is the base for the Wiltshire Breast Screening Service for Swindon, North and West Wiltshire, screening nearly 100,000 women over a three‑year cycle. It operates two screening vans and a static facility at the Great Western Hospital, and also provides a symptomatic service for Swindon and Wiltshire. The department has Hologic mammography units with tomosynthesis, and we are setting up a contrast‑enhanced mammography (CEM) service shortly. Localisations are typically performed with Magseed.The Radiologists are a happy, functional and hard‑working team, and there is a private practice that operates as a co‑operative.The post holder is required to hold a CCST or CCT and should be trained in all aspects of the speciality.Multidisciplinary team work is envisaged as a key component of the Trust’s working, involving MDT discussion with other colleagues.Development of subspecialty interests that fit the Directorate’s needs and strategic direction is encouraged.Responsibilities include teaching, examination and accreditation duties, and contributions to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education.Our STAR values are at the heart of everything we do:Service:We will put our patients first.Teamwork:We will work together.Ambition:We will aspire to provide the best service.Respect:We will act with integrity.The on‑call system now has consultant presence from 8 am–8 pm Monday to Friday, and for 4 hours Saturday and Sunday. Consultants remain on call for a further 4 hours on Saturday and Sunday. Outside these hours we are supported by an outsourced reporting company.There is also the option to set up home‑working computers.All medical staff in each Directorate are managerially accountable through their Lead Clinician to the Associate Medical Director, who has overall responsibility for the services within the Directorate. Consultants are key members of the Directorate team and are accountable for leading changes that improve the patient experience.We are currently involved in setting up a Community Diagnostic Centre and the West of England Imaging Network.To support the Lead Clinician in policy and strategy development as a senior member of the Directorate Management Team.To contribute to the leadership and development of the specialty under the direction of the Lead Clinician and Associate Medical Director, in line with the Trust’s business plans.The post holder will ensure effective communication and involvement of staff across the Directorate, including support to the General Manager to achieve their objectives.Work in partnership with colleagues in other Directorates within the Trust.As part of the Directorate Management Team, assist in the cost‑effective utilisation of resources, including pay and non‑pay items such as equipment and drugs, within budgets.Work within the Trust’s framework for Clinical Governance and Risk, including the development of clinical policies and adherence to standing orders, standing financial instructions and financial procedures.Full details of the job description and main responsibilities are available in the Job Description.#J-18808-Ljbffr
