Were looking for a People & Payroll Officer who shares these values and can bring a calm, organised, and thoughtful approach to this varied and rewarding role.About the RoleThis is a hybrid position within our People & Culture team, with responsibilities split between payroll administration (2 days per week) and employee lifecycle support (2 days per week). Its a role that requires precision, empathy, and the ability to adapt quickly when priorities shift.Youll be the first point of contact for People and Payroll queries, and a key contributor to the smooth running of our internal processesfrom payroll and absence management to flexible working and employee relations.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll (2 days per week)Coordinate and process weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on timeEnsure correct application of statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)Maintain up-to-date payroll records in line with legal and organisational standardsLiaise with finance and external providers to resolve payroll queriesSupport payroll-related audits and reportingAssist with the annual audit processPeople & Culture (2 days per week)Administer key people processes including absence management, flexible working, maternity/paternity leave, and disciplinary/grievance proceduresMaintain accurate and confidential employee recordsProvide first-line support to employees and managers on HR-related queriesSupport performance and development processes, including sickness monitoring and training coordinationContribute to internal communication and engagement initiativesProvide guidance on company policies and ensure compliance with employment legislationSupport the delivery of People & Culture projects and the wider People PlanExperience & SkillsWere looking for someone who brings:Experience in HR and/or payrollStrong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, process-driven approachStrong communication and interpersonal skillsThe ability to manage time effectively and re-prioritise when neededA positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to learnA collaborative spirit and a genuine care for peopleDesirable (but not essential):Knowledge of HR and payroll systemsCIPD Level 3 or equivalent experiencePayroll qualificationTraining & Development:Were committed to supporting your growth.
