Youll be working hands-on in the lab integrating hardware and software systems, investigating system behaviour, and running end-to-end testing on physical platforms.In the immediate term, youll be focused on subsystem integration and introducing system updates following the initial demonstration phase. This includes integrating new subsystems such as telemetry solutions into operational weapon equipment ahead of flight trials.As the programme evolves, youll also help shape the strategy for integration across future spiral development phases, with opportunities to influence how hardware-in-the-loop testing and broader system validation approaches are implemented.Youll be a key technical leader within the programme, coordinating integration campaigns, approving test readiness, and working closely with internal experts, suppliers and trial facilities. The role also includes supporting major ground and flight trial activities, which may involve short-term travel within the UK or internationally.What Youll NeedWere looking for an engineer who enjoys working in fast-moving environments where priorities evolve and technical challenges need practical solutions.Youll likely bring:Experience in system integration, testing or verification activitiesStrong understanding of hardware and software integrationExperience working with engineering lab environments and test benchesFamiliarity with commercial test equipment and data analysis toolsAbility to interpret system behaviour and troubleshoot complex technical issuesConfidence communicating technical results to stakeholders and programme leadersA proactive mindset with the ability to make informed decisions in uncertain environmentsExperience in defence systems, avionics, UAVs or drone technologies would be particularly valuable.What Youll GetThis role offers the chance to step into a programme where engineers genuinely shape how integration and proving is delivered.
