Job Description Protection & Controls Engineer (Design) Location: Stafford We're looking for a Protection & Controls Engineer (Design) to deliver high-quality HV & EHV protection design across UK electricity networks. This is a pure design role, focused on protection studies, relay application, and technical documentation (no operational or SCADA responsibilities). Great salary (competitive and experience-dependent) Excellent benefits package Strong technical environment with clear progression opportunities The Role Develop protection philosophies in line with DNO / National Grid standards Carry out fault level calculations, grading & coordination studies Design schemes for transformers, feeders, busbars & cables Produce protection single lines, schematics & calculation reports Support technical assurance and design reviews About You Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) 37 years' experience in Protection & Controls design Experience on UK DNO or National Grid projects Strong knowledge of HV/EHV protection systems and relays (ABB, Siemens, SEL, GE, Schneider) Working towards or holding CEng desirable If you enjoy detailed engineering design and working within UK network standards, this is a great opportunity to progress your career in a technically focused environment.
