Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance OperativeLocation: Mobile Role - Southend/LondonType: Full-Time | PermanentWorking Hours - Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm Salary 35K plus Bonus Company Van and Tools provided. A leading property management and lettings business is seeking a skilled Maintenance & Refurbishment Operative to join their in-house works team. Operating across London and the Southeast, this is a hands-on, mobile role ideal for a multi-skilled operative with experience in residential property maintenance and refurbishments.The Role:Reporting directly to the Head of Works & Compliance, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks across a portfolio of rental properties. From basic repairs to full kitchen and bathroom installations, the role offers varied work and the opportunity to take real pride in the quality of delivery.Key Responsibilities Include:Carrying out general household repairs (e.g., door handles, kitchen units)Minor plumbing work, such as fixing leaks, toilets, and tapsCarpentry, including hanging doors and installing ironmongeryKitchen and bathroom fitting, including tiling, grouting, and mastic applicationInternal and external decorating (painting, wallpapering)Plastering and renderingGardening, fencing, and external property upkeepDrain unblocking and pest-proofingBasic electrical duties and PAT testing (training provided)Ensuring all work complies with Health & Safety regulationsProviding a high level of customer service and representing the business positively on-siteThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:Essential:Minimum of 5 years' experience in a general maintenance or multi-trade roleStrong practical skills across plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and minor electricsA good understanding of Health & Safety standardsAbility to work independently and manage time effectivelyExcellent attention to detail and pride in workmanshipFull UK manual driving licence (clean)Desirable:Industry-recognised qualifications or trade certificationsExperience conducting risk assessments or Health & Safety checksBackground in residential lettings or property management environmentsWillingness to be flexible and travel across the regionThis is a fantastic opportunity for a confident and reliable operative looking to join a stable and reputable company with a strong pipeline of ongoing maintenance and refurbishment projects.
