M&E Manager Location: Covering Essex, Ipswich, and the outskirts of London Salary: Contract Type: Permanent / Full-Time Reporting to: Head of Asset Management / Director of Property Services About UsWe are a forward-thinking regional housing association committed to providing safe, sustainable, and high-quality homes for our residents. With a diverse property portfolio spanning Essex, Ipswich, and the outskirts of London, we are seeking an experienced M&E Manager to lead compliance across our mechanical and electrical systems.Role PurposeTo ensure full statutory and regulatory compliance of all mechanical and electrical systems across our housing stock. You will lead on the strategic oversight, operational delivery, and continuous improvement of M&E services, ensuring safety, efficiency, and value for money. Key Responsibilities Compliance Leadership Ensure all M&E systems (e.g. gas, electrical, lifts, water hygiene, fire safety systems) meet legal, regulatory, and best practice standards Maintain and update compliance registers and certification records Lead audits and inspections, and respond to findings with corrective actions Contractor & Supplier Management Manage external contractors delivering M&E servicing, maintenance, and remedial works Monitor performance against KPIs and SLAs, ensuring quality and compliance Lead procurement and tendering of M&E contracts in line with association policies Asset & Risk Management Contribute to the strategic asset management plan with M&E insights Identify and mitigate risks associated with mechanical and electrical systems Ensure robust systems are in place for emergency response and business continuity Resident Safety & Engagement Ensure residents are kept informed about M&E works affecting their homes Investigate and resolve M&E-related complaints and service failures Promote a culture of safety and compliance across the organisation Team Collaboration & Reporting Work closely with internal teams, including Repairs, Compliance, and Development Provide regular reports to senior management and the Board on M&E compliance Support training and development of staff on M&E compliance matters Essential Skills & Experience Proven experience managing M&E compliance in housing, facilities, or public sector Strong knowledge of statutory requirements including Gas Safety, Electrical Safety, LOLER, and Legionella Experience managing contractors and service delivery Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills Relevant technical qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH, HNC/HND in Building Services, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) Strong IT skills and familiarity with compliance management systems Desirable Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIBSE, IET, IMechE) Experience working within a housing association or social housing context Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency in M&E systems What We Offer Competitive salary and pension scheme Flexible working arrangements Professional development and training opportunities A supportive and inclusive working environment The chance to make a real impact on residents' lives across Essex, Ipswich, and Greater London If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.
