Job Description Role: Senior Electrical Design EngineerLocation: SouthamptonSalary: Up to 50,000Our client is seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead and deliver complex electrical design solutions across a range of engineering projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to commissioning and handover, while providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.Responsibilities Lead the electrical design of projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and client requirementsProduce and review detailed electrical design documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, calculations, and specificationsCarry out electrical calculations such as load studies, fault levels, cable sizing,Provide technical guidance, support, and mentoring to junior and graduate engineersReview and approve designs produced by others, ensuring technical accuracy and qualityLiaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and deliver project requirementsSupport project planning, cost estimation, and risk assessmentsParticipate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and safety assessments where requiredSupport commissioning activities and provide technical assistance during installation and testingIdentify opportunities for design improvement, standardisation, and innovationSkills and experience:Proven experience in a senior electrical design role within an engineering or industrial environmentStrong knowledge of electrical power systems, control systems, and electrical safetyExperience producing and checking detailed electrical designs and calculationsProficient with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ETAP, Amtech, or similarStrong understanding of applicable electrical standards and regulationsAbility to lead technical discussions and make sound engineering decisionsExperience within sectors such as energy, industrial automation, manufacturing, utilities, or infrastructureExperience with PLCs, control panels, or instrumentation designKnowledge of functional safety standards (e.g. IEC 61508 / 61511)Package:25 days holidays + bank holidaysCompany pensionPrivate healthcareWR Engineering are the #1 recruitment partner for engineering, manufacturing & technical sales jobs.
