Workshop Operative

Job Overview: We are currently recruiting for an established manufacturing and assembly company based just outside of central Southampton. This is a full-time temporary to permanent position for a Workshop Assistant, working Monday to Friday, 08:00am till 16:30pm (40-hours per week). The role will be physical and will require a candidate who is hands on, and is competent working with workshop tools, measuring, cutting, and packing items and working with various wood types. Hourly Pay Rate: 13ph (Basic Annual Salary Range Equivalent of 26,500 to 27,040). Duties: Assisting with the building and construction, including cutting, measuring and assembly of parts. Operating and maintaining basic workshop tools and machinery. Handling materials efficiently within the busy workshop environment, including loading, unloading, and organising items. Supporting the use of various hand tools for assembly, maintenance, and repair activities Applying basic maths skills to measure, calculate dimensions, and ensure accuracy in all tasks. Assisting with materials handling and lifting awkward items. Available to complete a site delivery/deliveries as and when required. Qualifications: Previous experience in woodworking, joinery and assembly practises is essential. Knowledge of workshop machinery and hand tools is essential. A full UK Driving licence is essential. Strong organisational skills and accuracy. Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Basic maths skills suitable for measurements and calculations involved in manufacturing tasks. This role provides an excellent opportunity for career development within a joinery work environment.
