Location: Southampton Salary: 67,313 - A Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97% Contract Type: Permanent - Flexible working, Full-time, Job share, Part-time The Assistant Director, Commercial leads all major commercial activity across HM Coastguards aviation contracts and programmes, reporting to the Senior Reporting Officer (SRO) for Major Programmes. This senior role requires strong leadership, commercial expertise, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. The postholder will oversee contract delivery, support future procurements, and ensure robust processes, value for money, and strategic outcomessafeguarding the Maritime and Coastguard Agencys interests in high-value, high-impact services. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provision of commercial leadership for all HM Coastguard major programmes, driving and developing innovative commercial solutions to the MCA's aviation needs into the future. Accountable for the tracking, reporting and assessing of performance metrics for aviation and other services provided to HM Coastguard and the MCA across a range of contracts. Leading negotiations for changes to current aviation contracts, in line with the contract change control procedures. About you To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience: Demonstrable commercial experience and expertise with a proven ability dealing with multiple suppliers and vendors in high-value contracts. Strong and effective senior and strategic leadership, with demonstrable experience to deliver effective services and value for money. Demonstrable ability managing high-profile service delivery contracts, including setting KPIs and monitoring supplier performance, terms of contracts and/or Service Level Agreements. Effective management of high-value (10m+) commercial contracts, including leadership in contractor negotiation. Proven ability to drive improved value for money in the delivery of contracted services through strong collaboration with users, contractors and suppliers. Strong and effective stakeholder management across Departments and with industry partners. TPBN1_UKTJ
