This role involves behaviour management, learning support and working closely with teaching staff.If youve also worked in the following roles, wed also like to hear from you: Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Classroom Assistant, Pastoral Support Worker, LSA, SEND AssistantRecent Graduates ConsideredThe organisation welcomes application from recent graduates who are interested in pursuing a future career in teaching as well as those who have an interest in supporting and working with children with special needs.SALARY: 24,796 per annum FTE / Actual Annual Salary 16,857 per annum + BenefitsLOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, HampshireJOB TYPE:Full-Time, Temporary Contract (1 Academic year with protentional to extend)WORKING HOURS: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.45am to 3.15pm, term time only (38 weeks).JOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant to join a growing primary school environment, supporting pupils across Early Years, KS1 or KS2.As a Learning Support Assistant you will work closely with teachers to deliver curriculum support, assist with classroom management and provide SEN support through small group and one-to-one learning.The Learning Support Assistant role requires a calm, adaptable and proactive individual who can support behaviour management and help pupils remain engaged and motivated.This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to pupil progress, learning development and inclusive education within a supportive school community.DUTIESYour duties as the Learning Support Assistant include:Support Learning Activities: Assist teachers in delivering lesson plans and classroom activitiesProvide One-to-One Support: Work with individual pupils, including those with SEN needsFacilitate Small Group Work: Support targeted learning groups to improve pupil progressPromote Engagement: Keep pupils motivated, focused and on task during lessonsManage Behaviour: Support behaviour management in line with school policiesAssist with Assessments: Help monitor and review pupil progress and learning outcomesSupervise Pupils: Provide support during breaktimes and lunchtime activitiesSupport Emotional Needs: Build positive relationships and respond to pupil wellbeing needsMaintain Safeguarding Standards: Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all timesCollaborate with Staff: Work effectively as part of a team and liaise with teachers and external agenciesCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSPrevious experience working with children in an education or childcare settingExperience supporting pupils with social, emotional or communication needsStrong communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to support classroom management and behaviour strategiesA flexible and adaptable approach to working in different classroom environmentsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamUnderstanding of safeguarding and confidentiality requirementsA calm, patient and supportive approach to working with childrenAbility to organise and prioritise tasks within a structured timetableWillingness to learn and undertake relevant trainingBENEFITSFriendly and sociable colleaguesOne paid day per academic year for personal eventsTwo-week October half term break (trial period)Free on-site car parkingDiscounted staff membership to on-site leisure facilitiesAccess to a public sector pension schemeCycle-to-Work schemeGood transport linksThe organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
