Associate Lawyer - 5-7 PQE. Interactive & Creative Media (ICM)

JOB TITLE: Associate (5-7 PQE)TERM: PermanentHOURS: Full-time, 9:30am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday with one hour for lunch.A flexible approach to working hours is a must, overtime may be required at busy times.We currently operate a hybrid working policy with at least 3 days office working per week. The team continues to advise from start-up video and technology development companies to multinational developers and agencies on some of the most cutting-edge legal issues.The team currently comprises of 7 partners, 5 associates, 1 trainee solicitor, 1 paralegal and supported by 5 personal assistants.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYWe are seeking an experienced Associate to join our well-regarded Interactive team at Sheridans. The successful individual will be technically astute and has between 5 and 7 years of post-qualification experience within established City, or in-house practices.RESPONSIBILITIESManaging your own workload cost effectively and provide transactional and advisory legal advice on general commercial contracting matters, including intellectual property, consumer and data protection law to clients in a succinct, practical and persuasive mannerDrafting and negotiation of commercial agreements, including but not limited to:Terms and Conditions of sale and purchaseConsultancy and freelancer agreementsDistribution agreementsFranchise agreementsNon-disclosure agreementsWebsite terms of use and related policiesService agreementsIP licence and assignmentsProduction agreementsBrand and social influencer agreementsPodcast agreementsAssisting with the due diligence process on transactions and drafting and negotiation of commercial warranties and/or indemnities in transactional documentsThe above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the Firm and the overall business needs.SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONSThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:Skills & AttributesStrong drafting and negotiation skillsClear communicator with the ability to explain legal concepts to non-lawyers.Commercially minded with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approachHighly organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environmentCollaborative team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn and participate in business development activitiesQualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree from a well-regarded UniversityQualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales with between 5 and 7 years of post-qualification experienceAn experienced lawyer having trained and worked within established practicesSubstantial grounding and experience within a department handling interactive and creative media related matters and/or demonstrable post-qualification experience undertaking matters involving but not limited to:Advertising-Influencer and Social MediaGaming and related technology (mixed reality and artificial intelligence)Fashion (commercial and IP matters)Production (commercial production and VFX animation)A methodical approach to work with a strong focus on accuracyExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience liaising with senior internal stakeholdersEQUAL OPPORTUNITIESOur aim is for all staff to feel welcomed at Sheridans and ultimately be their true self at work.
