Job Summary Are you ready to apply Make sure you understand all the responsibilities and tasks associated with this role before proceeding.Animal care assistant required to join a busy team for a temporary basis, looking after a range of parrots, waterfowl and small mammals .Skills required include the ability to effectively time manage, self motivate and problem solve, these key skills along with an excellent work ethic and genuine desire to care for the species you are responsible is of primary importance.- Accurately preparing diets for a range of animals, including pellet, fresh produce, meat, or hay and administer any medications.- Daily feeding regime of all animals, including monitoring weight fluctuations (through regular weighing) and taking relevant action to ensure animal health and optimum wellbeing.- Twice daily visual health checking of Animals in your care and partaking in physical checks as instructed by your supervisor, reporting of any anomalies to the supervisor on an immediate basis.- Cleaning, disinfecting, and re-bedding of enclosures, runs to the muck heap and other related cleaning tasks.- Ensuring Animals always have access to fresh, clean, clear water.- Taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of all animals.- Daily enrichment of all animals.- Daily exercise of animals where required as outlined by the supervisor.- Following any SOPs issued.- Working between sites as required.- Grooming, bathing, and presentation of the animals to a high standard.- Ensuring plants are watered where required.- Building and repair of environments in line with daily standards of habitat maintenance.- Checking security and safety of enclosures, fields, pens and stables for the area you are working within and reporting any damage or repairs required to your supervisor.- Maintaining of animal equipment inclusive of daily leather care, regular checking of handling equipment and PPE.- Ensuring the relevant areas are always clean, presentable, and well stocked, reporting any shortages or low stock to the area supervisor.- Keeping staff areas clean and useable alongside your colleagues.- Reporting of any H&S incidents or near misses in the accident book and any other issues that could affect yourself or your colleagues safety at work to your supervisor or the Manager.- Keeping work fleet buggies and vehicles presentable, including washing, and reporting any maintenance issues noticed to your supervisor.- Any other reasonable request your supervisor.Weekend work is required, normally on a 3 in 4 basis rota basis, with 5 out of 7 days on.50 hour week, 10 hours per day, including a 1 hour paid lunch break per day.Work hours can vary pending winter/summer requirements.ResponsibilitiesYou will be required to pass a full DBS check and have suitable references.To Apply:Soonest starter ideal, as such interviews will be held before the closing date and the position will close once filled, this may be before the closing deadline so please register your interest!Job Types: Full-time, TemporaryPay: 36,750 PABenefits: Free parking On-site gym On-site parkingSchedule: 10 hour shiftAbility to commute/relocate: Slough: reliably commute to areaExperience: Animal care: 1 year (required)Language: English (required)Licence/Certification: Full UK Driving Licence (required)Work authorisation: United Kingdom (required)Work Location: In personApplication deadline: 26/07/2025Job Types: Full-time, TemporaryPay: 36,750.00 per yearBenefits: Free parking On-site gym On-site parkingAbility to commute/relocate: Slough: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)Experience: Animal care: 1 year (required)Language: English (required)Licence/Certification: Full UK Driving Licence (required)Work authorisation: United Kingdom (required)Work Location: In personApplication deadline: 26/07/2025Reference ID: SP012725Expected start date: 26/07/2025
