Job Description Job Title: Critical Shift TechnicianLocation: Slough, UKContract Type: Permanent Shift-Based (24/7 Rota)Salary: Up to 51,000+ OvertimeROLE OVERVIEWTrevett Services are recruiting a Critical Shift Technician to join a high-performing engineering team within a Data Centre / Critical Environment in Slough. This role operates on ashift rota and is suited to an electrically biased engineer with experience in critical environments.You will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and fault resolution of all electrical and associated building services systems, ensuring site uptime, compliance, and adherence to strict SLA and KPI requirements. Working closely with the Shift Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining business-critical infrastructure.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESCarry out all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with statutory requirements and site schedulesComplete reactive maintenance and fault diagnosis on electrical and building services systemsOperate and maintain critical systems to industry standards and codes of practiceIdentify, rectify, and escalate faults where requiredMaintain effective communication with the Shift Supervisor regarding plant status, isolations, and ongoing worksAccurately complete maintenance records, shift logs, and computer-based PPM systemsCarry out installation and modification works to site electrical servicesEnsure plant rooms, workshops, stores, and rest areas are maintained to a high standard of housekeepingSupervise and support specialist contractors when on-siteEnsure safe systems of work are followed at all times, including RAMS and permit proceduresSYSTEMS & EQUIPMENTBuilding electrical installations and associated distribution systemsEmergency lighting and lighting control systemsBuilding Management Systems (BMS)Fire detection and suppression systemsAir conditioning systems including AHUs, VAVs, FCUs, and split systemsVariable speed drives and heating systemsGenerators and associated control systemsUPS systems and static switchesSingle and three-phase motorsHV systems (training and authorisation provided where required)REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEEssential:City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering / Building Services18th Edition (BS7671)Experience within Building Services or Facilities EngineeringStrong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilityGood communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with clients and colleaguesProactive, reliable, and safety-focused approachDesirable:Experience within Data Centres or Critical EnvironmentsHV Authorised Person (or working towards)Confined Space trainingStrong knowledge of UPS, generators, refrigeration, HVAC, and water treatment systemsBMS and alarm monitoring experienceBENEFITSCompetitive salary with shift allowance and overtimePension scheme with employer contributionTraining and development opportunities within Critical EnvironmentsClear progression pathwaysSupportive engineering team and structured shift managementIf you are an electrically biased engineer looking to progress within Critical Environments, apply nowJBRP1_UKTJ
