This hands-on role will focus on maintaining the reliability and performance of critical machinery through preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.The RoleAs a Mechanical Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability and operational efficiency across the site. You will lead and coordinate mechanical maintenance activities while supporting operational teams with troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance LeadershipPlan and coordinate mechanical maintenance activities across the siteEnsure all work aligns with safety, quality, and regulatory standardsTechnical SupportProvide mechanical troubleshooting support to operational teamsHelp identify and implement improvements to enhance machine reliabilityPerformance & Continuous ImprovementMonitor and drive key mechanical maintenance KPIsContribute to continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance and reduce downtimeMaintenance SystemsUse a CMMS system to plan, manage, and record maintenance workEnsure maintenance activities are accurately documented and scheduledContractor CoordinationSupervise and support external contractors working on mechanical projectsEnsure work is completed to the required standards, including quality checks and commissioning supportTeam DevelopmentSupport and mentor junior technicians and apprenticesPromote knowledge sharing and technical development within the teamWorkshop & Safety StandardsMaintain high workshop standards and ensure adherence to health 'safety procedures, including permit systemsAbout YouCompleted a recognised mechanical or multi-skilled engineering apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent)Experience working in manufacturing, heavy industry, or process environmentsStrong mechanical troubleshooting ability, particularly with automated production equipment, rotating machinery, and hydraulicsExperience planning and organising maintenance activities while managing multiple prioritiesFamiliarity with CMMS systems (e.g. SAP or similar) for maintenance planning and reportingStrong communication skills and the ability to support and mentor colleagues
