Steel Fitter

We are looking for Steel fitters to join our team based out of Sittingbourne. Key Responsibilities Blueprint Interpretation: Understand engineering drawings, plans, and material lists. Material Preparation: Measure, mark, cut, and bend steel bars or plates using shears, torches, and bending equipment. Assembly & Installation: Tie rebar into cages, fit supports (chairs/spacers), assemble structural frames, and fix steel to concrete bases or other structures. Fabrication: May involve tack-welding, grinding, and preparing components for permanent welding. Equipment Operation: Use hand tools, cranes, hoists, welders, and cutting tools. Quality & Safety: Ensure components fit precisely, allow for heat shrinkage, and adhere to all site safety protocols (PPE, working at heights). Essential Skills & Qualifications Ability to read technical drawings. Physical fitness and ability to work in demanding conditions. Problem-solving and attention to detail. Knowledge of shop math. Often requires a CSCS card (UK) or equivalent safety certification. Apprenticeships or relevant trade certifications (NVQ, City & Guilds) are beneficial.
