Job Description Our client, a private Day Nursery and Preschool, located in Sidcup is seeking to recruit a Lead Practitioner to join their team.Responsible to: Head of Nursery, Manager, Deputy Manager, and Senior Room LeaderThe main duty of the room leaders role is to take care of the day-to-day running of their base room. The Room Leader is in a position of authority and must adhere to and put in practice the policies and procedures of the setting. It is the room leaders role to oversee all staff members, voluntary or employed as well as any work experience students or visitors that may be present at any one time in keeping with the Policies and Procedures of the setting.It is essential that a room leader is a person with initiative, can delegate and has good interpersonal skills.Hours: 40 hour week over 4 days 10 hours per dayMain duties: To take responsibility for drawing up long term, medium term and daily curriculum plans which ensure that the Early Years Foundation Stage is adhered to; to monitor the effectiveness of the curriculum.To be responsible for providing a high quality of teaching, ensuring that staff are properly deployed and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children.To draw up and to supervise the daily programme of room activities and events.To be responsible for implementing systems of observation and record keeping so that childrens attainment and progress are effectively and regularly assessed; to monitor the effectiveness of assessment procedures.To organise the key worker system and to effectively supervise staff on a daily basis; to be responsible for monitoring the quality of teaching; to participate in staff appraisals and to identify in-service training needs.To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book, medication book.To liaise closely with parents/ carers, informing them about the pre-school and its curriculum, exchanging information about childrens progress and encouraging parents involvement.To ensure that the pre-school is a safe environment for children, staff and others, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times and fire drills are regularly practiced.To liaise with the management team, professionals and Ofsted as necessary and ensure that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented; to provide reports as required.To contribute to and to implement all pre-school policies and procedures, especially those on equal opportunities and confidentiality.To attend in-service training and meetings as required.To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the management team/ proprietor in accordance with the nurserys business plan/ objectives.Please Note:Due to the high volume of CVs we receive it is not viable for us to respond to individuals.
