Job Description Role: Shift Engineer (Electrical Bias) Shift: 4 on 4 off - 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off Pay: circa 52,000 Location: Shepton MalletHave you recently completed your apprenticeship or are you a time-served Maintenance Engineer looking to join a well-established manufacturer? Do you enjoy fault finding on production machinery and being part of a team that keeps a busy site running?Yolk Recruitment are working with a long-standing and respected site in Somerset who are looking to strengthen their engineering team with the addition of an Electrical Bias Shift Engineer. The site has a strong reputation locally and continues to invest in both its people and equipment.This is a great opportunity to join a stable manufacturing business where engineers play a key role in maintaining production reliability and driving improvements across the site.This is what you'll be doingAs a Shift Engineer you will be responsible for keeping production equipment running efficiently, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance across the factory. Working closely with production teams, you will help minimise downtime while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.Key responsibilities include:Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across production machinery and site servicesResponding to breakdowns quickly and carrying out effective fault finding to minimise disruption to productionDiagnosing and repairing electrical faults including work on 3-phase systems, motors, control panels, relays, contactors and inverters/VSDsSupporting basic PLC fault finding and working with automated production equipmentCompleting mechanical maintenance tasks including bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes, pumps and sealsRecording maintenance work accurately through the site maintenance systemWorking collaboratively with production teams to prioritise and resolve engineering issuesMaintaining high standards of health and safety and following site procedures at all timesSupporting improvement projects and contributing ideas to increase plant reliability and performanceWhat we're looking forA recognised engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent)Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer or Shift Engineer in a manufacturing environmentElectrical bias with strong fault-finding capabilityExperience working on production machinery and automated equipmentGood working knowledge of both electrical and mechanical maintenanceA proactive approach and ability to work effectively within a shift engineering teamAnd this is what you'll get in returnSalary of circa 52,000Pay Review Each yearOpportunities for overtime at enhanced ratesEnhanced annual leave allowanceCompany pension schemeLife insuranceEmployee referral programmeLong service reward schemeCharity volunteering daysHealth & wellbeing programme, including virtual GP appointmentsEmployee discounts with major retailersFree drinks vending and heavily subsidised food vendingFree onsite parkingYou'll be joining a well-established manufacturer with a strong track record in the sector and a stable engineering team, offering long-term security and the chance to work in a busy production environment.Are you up to the challenge?If you're a Maintenance Engineer looking for your next move in the Shepton Mallet area, please get in touch with engineering specialist recruiter Liam Reid today.Please apply with a CV and feel free to include a cover letter outlining why you're perfect for the role.
