Role:Electrical TechnicianLocation:SheffieldSalary:£33,000 - £38,000We are seeking a skilled and motivatedElectrical Technicianwith experience in control panel and prototype assembly to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoys working on a variety of bespoke control systems and instrument rack builds. You'll support a range of industries by helping deliver tailored hardware and software solutions focused ondata acquisition and automated control .This is anew positiondriven by company growth and significant recent project wins. The role will involve substantialon-site installation and commissioning workacross the UK, requiringflexibility to travel and stay overnightas needed. You'll need to bephysically fit , as site work may involve tasks such as running cables at height or in confined spaces.Key ResponsibilitiesElectro-mechanical assembly of bespoke systems, both in-house and on-site Build and wire control panels and 19" rack systems Fabricate and assemble extruded aluminium frames Complete wiring harnesses, looms, and interface boxes Conduct electrical testing (continuity, functional) and fault finding Carry out single and three-phase electrical installations Accurately document test results, site reports, and any design modifications Maintain workshop operations, including stock reporting and cleanliness Collaborate closely with engineering, installation teams, and clientsCandidate RequirementsEssential Skills & ExperienceNVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installations/Maintenance 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics Proficiency in control panel layout, cable selection, drilling, and wiring (3-phase, LV, PLC, ELV) Hands-on experience with site installations and basic quality control Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams Familiarity with EPlan and electrical documentation tools Practical experience in electrical fault finding and debugging Knowledge of PLC-based systems (Siemens, Beckhoff) and/or NI instrumentation Working knowledge of health & safety (Manual Handling, Work at Height, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989)Desirable CertificationsAM2 ECS/JIB Card City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent PASMA / IPAF certification (Additional training available if needed)Core CompetenciesAble to work both independently and as part of a team Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders Effective time management and organisation High standards of workmanship and commitment to continuous improvementLocation & TravelBased at our main office and workshop in Sheffield UK-wide travel to customer sites (up to 25% of the time), occasionally overseas (with notice) Must be flexible to travel at short noticeAdditional RequirementsLegal right to live and work in the UK Full UK driving licence and own vehicle (used for work-related travel) Valid passport for potential international assignmentsBenefitsCompetitive salary 23 days annual leave (rising to 24 after 5 years) + holiday buy-back scheme Health cash plan (includes 24-hour GP access, dental, physio, optical contributions) Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Company pension scheme Annual bonus scheme (after one year) Employee referral programme Cycle to work schemeHow To ApplyTo apply, please send your CV Source Consulting Ltd is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
