Our projects span Defence, Aerospace, Nuclear, Sports & Entertainment and Infrastructure - placing SCX at the heart of some of the most exciting and challenging engineering environments in the UK and beyond.Purpose of the RoleThe Project Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in ensuring the commercial success of SCXs complex defence and nuclear engineering projects. Responsible for managing project budgets, administering contracts, and driving value engineering, the role safeguards financial performance while supporting the safe, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of projects. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders, the Project Quantity Surveyor provides accurate cost forecasting, contract advice, and commercial insight to help optimise outcomes and mitigate risk across all stages of the project lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesBudget management:Developing and maintaining a comprehensive project budget.Tracking actual costs against the budget, identifying variances, and taking corrective actions.Forecasting future costs and preparing cost reports for project stakeholders.Contract administration:Reviewing and interpreting construction contracts to ensure compliance with project specifications and budget.Managing contract variations, including issuing change orders and negotiating pricing with clients.Administration of contractual correspondence and compliance.Identifying and managing project related risks and opportunitiesValue engineering:Identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality.Analysing design alternatives to optimize project cost.Collaboration:Working closely with project managers and engineers to ensure cost-effective project delivery.Communicating cost updates and potential issues to project stakeholders.Identifying and managing project related risks and opportunitiesSkills & Experience RequiredStrong analytical skills.Understanding of construction/engineering practices, materials, and industry standardsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder collaborationProficient using relevant software and project management toolsExperience using NEC, JCT and other bespoke forms of contractRelevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Project Management or EngineeringLocation: SheffieldJob BenefitsFlexible Start and Finish Times: Shape your day with flexible start and finish times around our core working hours.Pension Scheme: We operate a salary sacrifice pension scheme and reinvest our savings directly into your pension pot.Annual Leave: New starters receive 25 days of holiday, plus statutory bank holidays.Need a Few More Days?
