Precision Machinist - Deep Hole Boring 36,097 basic + 15% shift premium (5,414) OTE 41,500 15-shift rotating pattern Precision Machining Facility This is a proper precision machining role. You'll be setting and running deep hole borers and large CNC machines, working to tight tolerances on difficult to machine alloys. It's skilled, hands-on work in a safety-critical environment, and it's for people who take pride in doing the job right. What You'll Be Doing Setting and operating CNC deep hole borers Operating CNC lathes machining components from 1 metre up to 10 metres in length Operating a 3 point horizontal straightening press and ancillary equipment Carrying out in-process inspection to ensure dimensional accuracy Managing swarf removal and maintaining machine cleanliness Moving materials safely using overhead cranes and pedestrian pallet lifters Completing operator level machine maintenance (pre-start checks, lubrication, clean-downs) Maintaining high housekeeping and 5S standards Supporting toolroom activities and training other team members Taking part in team meetings and completing effective shift handovers What We're Looking For Experience within precision machining Hands on experience with deep hole boring and large capacity CNC machines Experience machining difficult or specialist alloys Confident working to tight tolerances and inspecting your own work Comfortable with CNC controls and disciplined machining practices A positive, practical attitude to safety, quality, and standards Formal qualifications (NVQ, HNC, HND, ONC, C&G, apprenticeship) are desirable, but experience and capability matter most.
