Key Responsibilities:The successful candidate will be responsible for:Embedding a safety culture aligned with positive, proactive and solution driven engagement.Driving the continuous improvement in region productivity and optimise the utilisation of the team through effective allocation of resources to work programmes and reactive activity (including major incidents)Ensuring timely allocation of appropriately skilled engineering resource, to enable the successful delivery of all agreed programmes of work, achieving operational and customer service performance targetsSetting and upholding performance expectations and standards of behaviour of colleagues, recognising high performance and actively managing under-performanceCoaching and developing the skills and competence of engineers to maximise their capability in line with the competency framework and anticipated skills demand of current and emerging work programme demandsAnticipating and maintaining an adequate pipeline of appropriately skilled engineers, actively driving the career progression of colleagues including participants in the workforce renewal programmeFostering positive trade union relationshipsCore deliverables of the role are:Create and empower a safety cultureFully resourced and prioritised programmes of work and optimal utilisation of engineersProductivity and safety targets deliveredPipeline of engineers progressively up skilled to meet current and future work programme demandsClear evidence of effective and frequent performance reviews and executable development plans, utilising performance feedback from Programme ManagersTechnical competency framework effectively calibrated and implemented for engineering disciplinesTalent profile of all resources maintained, with high growth potential assessed and actively managedKey Competencies:Be excellent at team workingBe able to lead, motivate and inspire othersDemonstrate sound judgement and effective decision makingDemonstrate resilience and respond well to challengesHave excellent written and spoken communication skillsBe well organised and able to prioritise and planCollaborate in your immediate team and peer groupBe able to coach and mentor colleagues to maximise their performanceEssential Qualifications & Experience: HNC in Electrical engineering or equivalentFull UK driving licenseDesirable Qualifications & Experience:Management of programmes/projects and colleaguesNetwork operations on the LV and HV systemConstruction/maintenance/repair backgroundSAP authorisation on overhead and/or ground mounted systems.Closing date for applications: 22 JulyIn order to comply with our electricity distribution licence, we have to ensure our colleagues are fit and proper to visit and enter our customers premises.
