Job Description Position: Metallurgical Laboratory Manager / Team LeaderLocation: South YorkshireSector: Metals testingSalary: Negotiable according experience but likely to be in the 45,000 - 55,000 rangeHybrid: No, this is office based in South YorkshireVisa Support: Sponsorship may be available for the right candidateThe Role :Overseeing / managing a team of 3 Laboratory Technicians / Metallurgists / Materials ScientistsEnsuring that all work is carried out according to instructionsEnsuring that all health and safety requirements are adhered toEnsuring that all equipment is maintained and calibrated as requiredEnsuring that all reports are accurate and succinct, delivering all required information to stakeholdersPersonally carrying out testing and report writing as required as part of the teamRecruitment, training and development of staff to ensure availability of skillsProviding reports to the SLT on activity levels, costs etcAbout You : A Degree level qualification is essential. This MUST be in Metallurgy, Materials Science or very similarPost-graduate certifications (Masters, MSc, Meng, PhD) are most welcomeProven experience of working in a laboratory environment, ideally for 5 + yearsExperience of microscopy, mechanical testing, corrosion, surface finish, heat treatment etcFluent written and spoken English including the ability to write complex technical reports in a clear and concise mannerPeople management / supervisory experience is very much preferred
