Job Description JOB DETAILS JOB BAND: C CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent (2x positions available) DEPARTMENT: BBC Audio North – Classical Music PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £33,000 - £44,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. LOCATION: Media City, Salford NB - This role requires early morning and weekend working. It is based in MediaCity, Salford, but travel and location work will be necessary including evenings and weekends. Content Producers will primarily work on classical music output but as a member of BBC Audio North can occasionally be expected to be scheduled on other programmes across the department according to business need. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Join BBC Audio North as a Content Producer working on BBC Radio 3 – the home of world-class classical music. We are the biggest single supplier of BBC radio and podcasts outside London. We’ve already moved production of half of Radio 3’s output to MediaCity, Salford, and doubled our team. Now we’re looking for fresh talent to help shape the future of classical music production. From studio sessions to concert halls, live or on-demand, you’ll bring classical music to audiences across BBC Radio 3, BBC Sounds and social platforms. WHY JOIN THE TEAM We deliver audiences a unique blend of classical music and culture through live and recorded programmes, public concerts, documentaries, features and podcasts on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Sounds. You’ll be part of a creative, collaborative team working across genres including classical, jazz, world, folk and film music. We are passionate about delivering world-class content on Radio 3 including BBC Proms and performances by BBC Orchestras and Choirs. Our Salford-based team produces a portfolio of standout programmes such as Breakfast, Classical Live, The Early Music Show, Music Map, Night Tracks and Through the Night as well as editions of Between the Ears, The Essay and The Sunday Feature. We’re future-facing and developing digital classical content to attract new audiences. Your Main Responsibilities And Impact - Work across the full range of Classical Production Salford output, including live and pre-recorded studio and location-based programmes - Output live programmes with editorial support - Collaborate with presenters, producers, editors and contributors to deliver content to the highest editorial and technical standards, in line with BBC Editorial Guidelines, compliance, and risk policies - Manage productions across weekdays and weekends, ensuring smooth delivery within budget - Contribute to the creative development of new programme ideas and formats The successful candidate will be expected to produce a range of content within our Classical portfolio.
