Melting Operations Manager Permanent Monday to Friday Adept Resourcing is recruiting a Melting Operations Manager for an established business in Sheffield. This is not a role where decisions are made elsewhere. And it is not about managing problems shift by shift. It is about taking responsibility for a primary melting operation and running it properly. Why this role exists The melting operation is critical to safety, quality, delivery, and cost. It needs someone who can lead people, hold standards, and improve performance without constant oversight. That is where you come in. What you will be trusted to do You will be responsible for the day to day performance of the melting department. That means: Making sure the operation is safe, controlled, and compliant Leading and developing the team so standards are clear and consistent Planning production and material flow so output is reliable Taking responsibility when things go wrong and fixing the root cause Managing consumables, costs, and performance like it is your area Working closely with planning, quality, engineering, and senior leadership You will not be micromanaged. You will be expected to lead. How you will be measured You will know you are doing well when: Safety is owned by the team, not chased by management Problems are dealt with early, not escalated late Output is predictable and quality issues are reduced Your team knows what good looks like and works to it Senior leaders trust the department is under control Who this suits This role suits someone who has run a technical or process driven manufacturing operation and is comfortable being accountable. You are likely to have experience in melting, thermal processing, or another high risk manufacturing environment. You understand that safety, quality, and productivity come from discipline, systems, and leadership, not slogans. Formal qualifications and improvement frameworks are useful, but what matters most is how you lead and how you think. Salary up to 53k and benefits package is available, along with long term progression.
