Job DescriptionHead of ConveyancingFull-time Office based in RomfordOwen Reed is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Conveyancing to lead a residential and commercial conveyancing department for a top law firm in Romford. This is a key leadership position within the firm, ideal for a dynamic legal professional who combines strong technical expertise with strategic vision, excellent team management skills, and a passion for leveraging technology to enhance service delivery.Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Management:Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the conveyancing department.Lead, mentor, and develop a team of conveyancers, assistants, and support staff to deliver high-quality services.Implement streamlined workflows and performance metrics to enhance team efficiency.Residential & Commercial Conveyancing:Handle a caseload of complex residential and commercial property transactions.Provide legal guidance on freehold, leasehold, new builds, buy-to-let, transfers of equity, and a broad range of commercial transactions.Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and risk management, and maintaining CQS and Lexcel standards.Technology & Innovation:Champion the adoption of legal tech solutions to improve client experience and internal processes.Identify and implement digital tools to increase productivity and reduce manual tasks.Business Development:Pre-existing relationships and/or following is preferredBuild and maintain strong relationships with estate agents, mortgage brokers, developers, and other key stakeholders.Identify opportunities for growth and expansion of the department.Represent the firm at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings.Strategic Contribution:Collaborate with senior leadership to shape the strategic direction of the firm.Provide regular reports on departmental performance and KPIs.Key Requirements:Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, or Legal Executive with 7+ years PQE.Extensive experience in both residential and commercial conveyancing.Proven experience in leading and managing a legal team.Strong business development skills with an established network of contacts.Tech-savvy with a keen interest in digital innovation within the legal industry.Excellent communication, organisational, and client relationship skills.What We Offer:A leadership role within a growing, modern firm.Competitive salaryOpportunities for continued professional development.A collaborative, forward-thinking working environment.Employee Assistance SchemePension Scheme
