Grounds Person/Handyperson Location: Redruth Salary: 25,185 - 26,403 (pro rata 17,011 - 17,845) based on SCP 4 - 7 Vacancy Type: Part Time Hours : 25 hours per week over 5 days The Parish Council seeks a suitable and adaptable individual as a Grounds Person/Handyperson. The Role You will be required to carry out regular programmed work and work diligently and efficiently both as part of a team and when appropriate on your own. You will work to a schedule of works, which includes grounds maintenance and asset maintenance throughout the Parish along with any additional tasks that may be allocated by the Parish Clerk. There will be some paperwork involved, for example the completion of regular checks of land and assets, health and safety checks and keeping a record of equipment maintenance. You should be familiar with the process of risk assessment, be able to comply with safe systems of work and should actively promote a safety culture within the workplace. Key Responsibilities To be fit enough, willing and able to carry out regular programmed work, with the ability to work diligently and efficiently both as part of a team and when appropriate on your own. You will work to a schedule of works and additional tasks will be allocated by the Parish Clerk. To be aware of your responsibilities under Health & Safety law, taking reasonable care of yourself, your colleagues and members of the public at all times whilst at work. You should be familiar with the process of risk assessment, comply with safe systems of work and should actively promote a safety culture within the workplace. Skills and Qualifications Essential: A good standard of education, literacy and numeracy skills that can be evidenced. Health & Safety legislation working knowledge Grounds Maintenance experience Working with minimal supervision Ability to demonstrate a methodical, organised and flexible approach to work Well organised and good time management A team player with strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude Effective listening skills Ability to work independently using own initiative Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the Parish Council The ability to interact and communicate with employees, Councillors and the public Diplomacy and tact A mature and professional manner Self-Motivated Willing to undertake training necessary for the role Full clean driving license Be able to work in all weather conditions including rain, snow etc. Commitment to delivering high standards of service. Desirable: Brushcutter/strimmer certificate Hedge trimmer certificate First Aid at Work Certificate Manual Handling training COSHH Working Alone Working at Heights Chapter 8 Traffic Management (Where the above are not held the candidate must be willing to undergo the appropriate training).
