The Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will be based within the Cumberland footprint and will work integrated in the 0-19 service, including Health Visitors and Child Development Practitioners. The post holder will support the service offer to families and promote health, wellbeing, and development of children. They will develop training, interventions, and pathways to promote evidence-based assessments and interventions, considering the Home Learning Environment to narrow the 'word gap' and promote school readiness. Key Responsibilities: Work within occupational standards, policies, and procedures. Adhere to and refer to Trust and Local Children’s Safeguarding Partnership Policies and procedures. Assess and supervise pre- and post-registration students during their training. Participate in the HDFT preceptorship support programme for identified staff. Ensure efficient use of resources. Maintain up-to-date research-based, clinically effective practice, with awareness of current legislation, education, and audit. Maintain competence through continuing professional development activities, including portfolio development, attending training courses, and reflective practice. Maintain accurate records in line with professional standards and Trust requirements. Participate in performance and development reviews and annual appraisals, contributing to personal development. Establish effective communication with statutory, partner, and voluntary agencies, keeping the family at the centre. Build positive interpersonal relationships with team members, characterized by open communication, trust, and respect.
