We have an excellent opportunity for a M&E Package Planner in the defence sector, based on the AWE Burghfield Site in Reading, Berkshire. This is a site-based role and requires candidates with existing active SC level security clearance (or above). We will only consider candidates who are willing to be on site 5 days a week and who hold adequate security clearance The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Head of Planning to support Construction and Work Package Leads to develop and maintain a detailed delivery programme on a major defence project. You will be responsible for all planning and schedule management activities within the corporate P6 planning tool ensuring a true representation of the delivery programme is established and maintained within the Mensa Programme to Complete (P2C). You will act as an expert adviser, providing planning support to maintain agreed minimum standards and improve the quality of data used for upwards reporting. Close cooperation with Programme Planners in the Programme Management team to ensure alignment of the overall delivery is essential to ensure that any issues can be resolved or escalated as appropriate. This is a construction delivery role, not a PMO role. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Application of technical and construction knowledge to produce and manage the Mechanical and Electrical elements of the Mensa P2C. Interface directly with Supply Chain Partners and undertake regular schedule reviews. To facilitate interactive planning reviews with stakeholder teams to minimise adverse schedule impact. KEY REQUIREMENTS Proficient with Primavera P6 in an Enterprise multi-user environment. Holder of current SC clearance (or above) is essential Previous site experience in delivering complex projects to programme. NEC Experience contractual mechanism essential especially a thorough understanding of the Programme for Acceptance process. Experienced in the implementation and use of earned value analysis (schedule and performance management). Experience of Developing WBS and development of schedules from limited information. Ability to integrate Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure with complex plant work packages to achieve programme. An ability to work collaboratively in a partnering environment with the client. Skilled in progress interrogation and scrutiny of / challenging contractor schedules. Close working collaboration with supply chain / internal project managers to develop / improve delivery logic sequence. Experience of Critical Path Analysis / late starts early starts / finishes. Understanding and interpreting Float Erosion and Critical activities. Development of What-if scenarios for exploring sequence effects on the schedule.
