This role blends creative design, technical problemsolving, and endtoend project management. Youll work closely with clients, fabricators, architects, and contractors to turn concepts into beautifully engineered, buildable solutions.This is a managerlevel position suited to someone who thrives in autonomy, can confidently run multiple projects simultaneously, and brings both design rigour and operational discipline.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Technical DevelopmentLead concept development, technical design, and detailing for bespoke metalwork (Brise Soleil, balustrades, screens, Pergolas, architectural features).Produce highquality drawings, models, and specifications suitable for fabrication and installation.Translate client ideas into practical, manufacturable solutions without compromising design intent.Conduct site surveys, measurements, and feasibility assessments.Ensure all designs meet structural, safety, and building regulation requirements.Project ManagementOwn projects from initial brief through to installation and handover.Develop project scopes, timelines, budgets, and risk assessments.Coordinate with fabricators, installers, suppliers, and subcontractors.Manage procurement of materials and specialist components.Oversee quality control at each stage of fabrication and installation.Maintain clear, proactive communication with clients and stakeholders.Resolve issues on site with calm, solutionfocused leadership.Client & Stakeholder EngagementLead client meetings, design reviews, and site visits.Provide expert guidance on materials, finishes, engineering constraints, and design options.Build strong, trustbased relationships with architects, designers, contractors, and end clients.Represent Urban Skies with professionalism and a premium, designled approach.Operational & CommercialPrepare variations, design proposals, and project documentation.Track project costs and ensure profitability.Identify opportunities to improve processes, templates, and workflows.Contribute to continuous improvement across design, fabrication, and installation practices.RequirementsDesign & Technical Skills25 years in architectural metalwork, bespoke fabrication, industrial design, or related fields.Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, InDesign, Photoshop).Experience producing fabricationready drawings and technical packs.Understanding of metalworking processes: welding, laser cutting, folding, finishing, powder coating, etc.Ability to design for both aesthetics and manufacturability.Project ManagementProven track record managing bespoke build projects from concept to completion.Experience coordinating multiple trades and suppliers.Strong organisational skills with the ability to run several projects independently.Confident in managing budgets, timelines, and client expectations.Comfortable leading site meetings and resolving technical issues in real time.Client-Facing ExperienceSkilled at translating client briefs into actionable design solutions.Experience working with architects, interior designers, contractors, and highend residential clients.Ability to communicate complex technical ideas in a clear, approachable way.Demonstrable commercial awareness across design and project management.Personal AttributesSelfdriven, organised, and able to operate with minimal supervision.Strong problemsolver with a calm, pragmatic approach.Detailoriented with a passion for craftsmanship and precision.Confident decisionmaker who can balance design ambition with practical constraints.Collaborative, respectful, and able to build strong working relationships.Job DetailsOnsite at MK45 5EU, with travel to UK wide sites as needed so car required.CSCS Card preferred but support can be provided for this.BenefitsUnlimited HolidayPrivate Medical
