Job Description Are you an experienced M&E Surveyor with a strong mechanical background? If youre looking for a role with variety, responsibility and long-term impact, this could be a great opportunity.Were supporting a major organisation delivering asset management and facilities services within a highly secure maritime and defence environment in Portsmouth. Youll join a multi-disciplinary Estates Surveying team working across a unique estate that blends historic infrastructure with modern, mission-critical systems.Whats the role all about?As an M&E Surveyor, youll be part of a specialist surveying team providing detailed mechanical and electrical condition surveys, defect analysis and technical reporting across a large operational estate.This role has a strong mechanical bias, particularly around heating, ventilation and building services systems, and suits someone confident working both independently and as part of a wider technical team.Youll be responsible for:Undertaking general and planned surveys across buildings, utilities and infrastructureCarrying out asset condition surveys to Level 4 using recognised grading methodologiesProducing detailed technical reports, scopes of work and cost estimatesAssessing mechanical and electrical defects and recommending value-for-money solutionsAdvising clients on asset condition, statutory compliance and best practicePreparing option studies, feasibility studies and cost appraisalsSupporting forward works planning with accurate survey dataMaintaining electronic survey records and databasesLiaising with clients, service providers and subcontractorsEnsuring all work considers Health, Safety and Environmental requirementsProviding technical support to colleagues and internal stakeholdersThis is a varied, site-based role where no two days are the same.What youll needTo succeed as an M&E Surveyor, youll bring:5+ years experience in surveying, construction or facilities managementStrong mechanical engineering background (heating / ventilation essential)Experience surveying building services and infrastructureKnowledge of building regulations, CDM and H&S legislationAbility to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary teamStrong written and verbal communication skillsConfident IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel and databases)A logical, methodical and professional approach to workQualifications (ideal, not all essential)HNC minimum in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering or SurveyingDegree-qualified (desirable)Relevant training such as:Heating systems18th EditionAsbestos AwarenessWorking at Height / Confined Spaces / MEWPIOSH or NEBOSH (or similar)Security clearance or ability to obtainWho you areYoure professional, analytical and proactive.
