Job Description CMS2 is a specialist equipment manufacturer supplying maritime atmosphere control systems and support services. CMS2 are experts in enabling high availability atmosphere management systems to generate breathable air for submariners, allowing boats to remain underwater for long periods of time. We do this by combining over sixty years of expertise with the latest technology and processes to design, build and support high quality systems and solutions.We are seeking a Test & Commissioning Engineer to join our established team. They will be responsible for developing and executing test plans, procedures, and automated test systems to verify the performance, functionality, and reliability of CMS2s products and systems.This role involves close collaboration with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure that all products meet technical specifications and regulatory standards.The Test Engineer plays a key role in identifying defects, improving test coverage, and supporting continuous product improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for hardware and/or software systemsCollaborate with engineering teams to define test requirements and improve product qualitySet-up, configure, test, commission and maintain complex process equipmentPressure testingElectrical testingPerforming pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, and performance validation of equipment in Portsmouth and on site if required.Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests on mechanical components, piping systems, and plant assemblies in accordance with engineering specifications and safety regulations.Carry out, flash testing, Insulation Resistance testing, earth bonding, point to point wiring checksCarrying out activities in line with the companys test procedures.Investigating mechanical/electrical/electronic/functional problems to assist with diagnosing and repair of faults.Work with engineering and technical staff to develop new and existing equipment.Document test results, track defects, and support root cause analysis.Ensure documentation and test results are recorded consistently and accurately.Document test results, track defects, and support root cause analysis.Run system demonstrations with customers.To control and maintain professional standards within the test areas.To record and analyse data being captured within the test environment.Ensure Health, Safety, Environment and Quality requirements are adhered to at all timesTo maintain professional standards within the shop floor / test bay areas.General activities:Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business.Provide a professional backup service for colleagues during peak times or during absence.Follow company procedures, standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date.Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and the public.Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential: NVQ/HNC or above qualification in engineeringPrevious test & commissioning experience in a highly regulated industry (process engineering)Strong commitment to health and safety, environment and qualityAbility to read and interpret documents such as process engineering drawings, specifications and proceduresAble to use basic test equipment such as, multimeter, Loop calibrators, oscilloscope.Good hands on electrical / mechanical skillsPragmatic approach to tasksMust be able to work efficiently as part of a team and to work under pressure in a challenging environmentExcellent attention to detail Flexibility, enthusiasm, self-motivated and able to work well under own initiativeDesirable:IOSH Working Safely Apprenticeship in relevant engineering fieldHND/Degree qualified in engineeringPrevious experience within a manufacturing and defence environmentShipbuilding / Ship Repair background within the MOD / Naval IndustryFamiliar with NPI / NPD Experience of air purification equipment on-board submarines highly desirableAble to forge strong working relationships both internally and externallyIOSH Managing Safely5S / LEAN continuous improvementOther RequirementsCandidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UKCandidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be able to obtain this level. To gain SC clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.Travel RequirementsSome travel to other Group offices in the UK may occasionally be required.
