Earthworks Material Manager Major UK Construction Project Are you an experienced professional in earthworks and materials management looking for an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major UK construction project? We are seeking a dedicated Earthworks Material Manager to join a dynamic team and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality results on-site. About the Role This role involves overseeing all aspects of earthworks and materials testing on a significant construction project. The successful candidate will work closely with project management, design teams, and stakeholders to ensure all works meet industry standards, project specifications, and operational requirements. Key Responsibilities Coordinating and supervising laboratory and field-testing activities for materials compliance. Preparing, reviewing, and issuing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Overseeing the approval process of all materials used on the project. Managing classification of excavated materials to align with project specifications. Supervising materials testing subcontractors. Identifying, investigating, and resolving non-conformance issues proactively. Managing test results and ensuring relevant documentation is distributed effectively. Producing quality documentation, including forms, checklists, and reports. Liaising with designers and client representatives regarding quality assurance. Testing excavated materials and maximizing reusability where possible. Working closely with engineering and management teams to optimize site productivity while maintaining quality standards. Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Supporting timely completion of site works. What Were Looking For Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in Civil, Structural, or Materials Engineering. Minimum of five years' experience in earthworks testing procedures. UKAS Soils Laboratory testing experience is beneficial. Excellent record-keeping and data management skills. Strong communication abilities to engage with technical and non-technical professionals. Solid knowledge of material classifications and industry specifications. Relevant qualifications, including CSCS certification. Strong understanding of HSQE regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. High attention to detail with the ability to manage tight deadlines. Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Full UK driving license required. Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required. Benefits Competitive starting salary. Performance-related bonus scheme (eligibility applies).
