Senior Designer

Job Description Winsearch is working with a prestigious specialist client in the faade and building envelope sector. They've been trading for more than 20 years in this area with extensive experience in major works design, facade remediation, and restoration to existing buildings- among many other areas. This client is now looking for a Senior Designer for Glazing to work out of their fantastic Portsmouth office. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of glazing design on high quality and technically challenging projects. You'll be the go-to techincal expert, laising across internal and external teams and consultants to make sure that designs are buildable and compliant, as well as commercially sound. Day to day, you'll be:Leading glazing design packages from early concept through to constructionReviewing employer's requirements and technical specs, flagging risks and opportunitiesCoordinating closely with estimating, procurement, and commercial teamsOwning and delivering drawings, schedules, and specifications on time and to a high standardActing as the main technical contact for clients, architects, main contractors, and regulatorsReviewing and managing subcontractor and supplier design submissionsEnsuring compliance with UK Building Regulations, CWCT standards, NHBC guidance, and related codesSupporting testing strategies (air, water, fire, etc.)Embedding health & safety, CDM, sustainability, and fire safety into designsWorking closely with manufacturing and site teams to resolve design queries and ensure smooth deliveryRole Requirements:At least 5 years' experience in glazing designStrong background in curtain walling, windows, doors, unitised faades, and interfaces with cladding systemsSolid knowledge of CWCT standards, building regulations, and faade performanceConfident using AutoCAD and glazing software such as SchCal, LogiKal, or TechdesignComfortable working with Word and ExcelDesirable extras:Experience with sustainability standards like BREEAM or LEEDA degree in Architecture, Engineering, Faade Engineering, or a similar fieldAbout you: A confident technical lead who enjoys coordinating people and informationA clear communicator with a practical, solutions-focused mindsetOrganised and detail-driven, able to juggle multiple projects at onceCommercially aware, understanding how design decisions impact cost and programmeFully bought into health, safety, and environmental best practiceIf you're an experienced glazing designer ready to take ownership of packages on copmplex and high profile projects, get in touch by applying to this ad. indwinOur clients and their customers come from diverse backgrounds and so do we.
