Join Ofwats Cost Assessment Team as a Senior Associate Wastewater Specialist We have 4 permanent roles available but they are also open to loans and secondments of up to 2 years. Office Location: London (E14 4HD) or Birmingham (B5 4UA) with hybrid working About Us We are Ofwat, the Water Services Regulation Authority, a non-ministerial government department responsible for regulating the water sector in England and Wales. Following the Independent Water Commissions final report, the UK government has set out a bold new direction - one that brings together expertise from across the sector to deliver better outcomes for customers and the environment. The Role We are looking for four Senior Associate, Wastewater specialists (previous experience could include wastewater hydraulic modeller, engineer, scientist, asset manager or data analyst) to join our Wastewater Cost Assessment Team. We are particularly interested in candidates that have strong data analysis skills. Experience in one or more of the following areas would also be beneficial: Wastewater treatment Storm overflows Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans Bioresources and Sludge treatment Asset Health strategies, planning maintenance and capital investment programs. Key deliverables In this role you will be expected to: Design and deliver policy, procedures and processes to ensure thorough and effective cost assessment. Apply technical expertise to provide support and advice to areas of economic regulation across the organisation. Use oral and written communication skills to influence and persuade both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Critically evaluate and challenge analysis or product of a professional peer. Produce high-quality documents and contribute to external publications. Work closely with colleagues across Ofwat to align with other areas of work. About You Below are some of the key essential experience, skills & knowledge required for this post: 1. Lead criterion: Technical experience in sewerage network, wastewater treatment or bioresources within engineering, science, capital programmes, asset management and/or business planning. 2. Lead criterion: Graduate qualification and/or equivalent professional experience in engineering, science, data analyst or similar technical specialism. 3. Numerate with analytical skills, including experience of analysing and accurately interpreting a range of data and insights to inform evidence-based decisions and solutions for complex problems. 4. Experience in supporting the design and delivery of procedures and processes.
