Established for over 35 years, our success comes from the people behind the projects. About the RoleWere looking for a Concrete Estimator to join our Sales & Estimating Team. Youll be responsible for accurately pricing, tracking, and managing estimates from the initial enquiry through to order placement. Working closely with an Account Manager and a fellow Estimator, you will help secure and deliver flooring, roofing, and concrete topping projects that align with our sales targets.A strong working knowledge of concrete construction methods, materials, and labour is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and allocate daily client enquiries into projects, following booking-in procedures.Evaluate tender documents and price in accordance with our written estimating procedures.Record all tender activity and feedback using our bespoke CRM system.Build strong client relationships through follow-up calls, and log all actions and findings.Ensure timely estimate submissions and avoid overdue (RED) client contact flags.Negotiate and secure contracts to meet sales KPI targets, monitored weekly.Provide high-level pricing calculations using "elements" at the tender stage (training provided).Monitor market trends and competitor pricing; adjust estimates accordingly.Record and evaluate lost projects monthly and document reasons in the CRM.Assist the Commercial Manager with estimate template updates.Requirement to source and obtain quotes for specialist roofing and concrete materials and labour.Review key contract tender documents to ensure bids are compliant.Collate and present project details to Account Manager for internal launch meetings.Log suggestions or issues through our Lets Learn NCR process.Action any NCRs assigned to you and support continuous improvement.Actively participate in weekly and monthly sales/operations meetings.Job Experience & Knowledge RequiredAn understanding of concrete mix designs and reinforcement.Experience liaising with concrete suppliers for labour & materials.Familiarity with concrete pump operations and related logistics.Ability to interpret construction drawings and break them down into phase-specific pour sequences.What Were Looking ForProven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry or experience in another concrete related role.Background or strong knowledge in concrete applications is essential for this role.Qualifications in Construction, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel; CAD familiarity is a plus.Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with strong attention to detail.Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.Ability to multitask and manage your time effectively.PackageCompetitive Salary Assessed on Company Bandings and Experience28 Days Holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays) + Bonus DaysOption to Purchase Additional HolidayLength of Service AwardsReward & Recognition SchemePrivate Health SchemeBike2Work SchemeTraining & Development OpportunitiesSocial and Charity EventsPlease note this is an office based role - Monday to Friday.Why Join Us?At SMD, we pride ourselves on delivering top-tier projects through teamwork, precision, and innovation.
