Job Description Purpose of the RoleYou will join a high-specification fabrication facility, delivering projects from initial CAD design through to manufacturing. Core services include CNC panel bending, laser cutting, powder coating and assembly.Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring that customer orders are scheduled, progressed, and delivered on time. You will work closely with department leaders and the drawing office to maintain smooth production flow and effective communication. You will also oversee control of all raw materials and work in progress stocks, ensuring timely replenishment.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the General Manager to communicate production risks, including staff shortages, bottlenecks and operational issues.Lead recruitment, training, development and performance management of personnel.Manage stock levels, ordering, and expediting, driving cost reductions and improving inventory accuracy.Organize and maintain personnel records (induction, training, appraisals).Ensure optimal workforce utilisation and implement initiatives to boost productivity.Support Quality Management processes as required, maintaining high manufacturing standards.Maintain excellent housekeeping and a safe working environment.Work closely with the Manufacturing team to ensure smooth operations.Review customer orders and manage the issuing and control of work order documentation.Monitor and replenish materials to support manufacturing teams.Create purchase orders and expedite stock items as needed.Identify defects and implement control measures to maintain quality standards.Promote Health & Safety policies, ensuring adherence across all teams.Ensure compliance with quality standards, including verification, dimensional checks, scrap reduction and root cause analysis initiatives.Perform other related duties as required to support operational excellence.Candidate RequirementsEducation:Level 3 or 5 Certificate or Diploma in Management Studies (required)HNC in Engineering or related discipline (desirable)IOSH or NEBOSH certification (desirable)Experience:Minimum 5 years experience in fabrication, machining, or mechanical manufacturing environmentsProven experience leading teams in a similar operational roleTrack record of managing daily production targetsSkills & Competencies:Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to drive teams to achieve resultsSelf-motivated, autonomous, and results-driven with a can-do attitudeExperience in efficiency improvement, project management, and team developmentSkilled in Lean Manufacturing techniques (KanBan, 5S) and problem-solving methodologies (Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys)Exceptional communication, team-building, resilience and adaptability39 hour week working Mon Thurs 7.30am 4.30pm. & Fri 7.30am 12.30pmIf you are an experienced Production Operator and are currently looking for a new challenge then please submit an up to date CV by using the apply button below.By applying for this position, you confirm that you consent to the processing of your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the purposes of recruitment, employment and working finding service.JBRP1_UKTJ
