Job Description An opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Buyer to join a high-end advanced fabrication environment delivering projects from initial CAD design through to full manufacturing. The facility supports premium workshop and engineering solutions for leading manufacturers within the luxury automotive, motorsport, and high-performance vehicle sectors.The Manufacturing Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations. This role is critical in ensuring continuity of supply, cost control, quality compliance, and on-time delivery, while building strong supplier relationships and supporting production schedules.Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & SourcingSource raw materials, components, and subcontract services in line with production requirementsPrepare, place, and manage purchase ordersIdentify, assess, and onboard new suppliers to strengthen supply chain resilienceProcure finished products in support of manufactured goodsSupplier ManagementNegotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and contractual agreementsMonitor supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, and serviceResolve supply chain issues including delays, shortages, and quality concernsInventory & PlanningCollaborate with production and planning teams to forecast material requirementsMaintain optimal stock levels to avoid shortages and excess inventorySupport material planning through ERP systems (e.g. Business Central / SAP / Oracle)Cost Control & Continuous ImprovementAnalyse spend and identify cost-saving opportunitiesDrive continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiativesCompliance & DocumentationEnsure purchasing activities comply with internal policies and proceduresCreate, maintain, and update purchasing proceduresMaintain accurate purchasing records and documentationSupport the creation and updating of costed Bills of Materials (BOMs)General ResponsibilitiesReview haulage and logistics arrangements to improve service and cost efficiencySupport transport coordination as requiredWork closely with site functions and provide cross-functional office supportPromote Health & Safety compliance across all activitiesSupport quality standards through verification processes, dimensional checks, scrap analysis, and root cause investigationsDrive scrap reduction and process improvement initiativesReporting LineFunctionally reports to the General ManagerCandidate ProfileQualificationsCIPS qualification (or equivalent) preferredExperience within lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environmentsUnderstanding of international sourcing and logisticsExperience25 years experience in a purchasing/buying role within a manufacturing environmentExperience using ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Business Central)Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materialsSkills & CompetenciesSelf-motivated and able to work on own initiativeStrong negotiation and supplier management capabilityExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsHigh attention to detail and strong organisational abilityAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesJBRP1_UKTJ
